• Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy is a type of ‘minimally invasive’ surgery. The surgeon is able to perform an inspection and surgical procedures using specialised instruments inserted through small incision in the skin. Where indicated, this minimizes scars and pain, and improves recovery in the early period following the surgery.

  • Trauma

Orthopaedic trauma relates to injuries affecting the bones, joints, and associated muscles, tendons, or ligaments. These important mechanical structures are important in day-to-day mobility and function. Trauma care involves management of fractures of bones, ligament, tendon, or muscle injuries, surgically and non-surgically.

  • General orthopaedics

Orthopaedic surgery is the branch of surgery dealing with the musculoskeletal system. Elective orthopaedics relates to conditions that develop over time, such as arthritis affecting the joints, whereas emergency orthopaedics (orthopaedic trauma) relates to acute injuries affecting the musculoskeletal system.

  • Fractures

A fracture is the same as a ‘break’ in the bone. Fractures cause pain, deformity, and dysfunction and require adequate and timely reduction and stabilisation to minimise complications.

  • Joint replacement surgery

Also known as ‘Arthroplasty Surgery’, the surgeon implants a prosthetic joint to replace a worn out native joint with the aim of relieving pain, and regaining normal limb alignment/dimensions and function. Commonly performed joint replacements are hip replacement and knee replacement.

Welcome to North Canberra and Goulburn Orthopaedic Surgery.

Orthopaedics is dedicated to the assessment and surgical management of conditions of the musculoskeletal system. The musculoskeletal system is made up of all the bones and associated muscles in the body, as well as the structures that stabilise and facilitate their function / movement (tendons, ligmaments, cartilage etc)
